Some weddings are all about the people, the little moments and having the freedom to celebrate in your own way. Aaron and Jack’s wedding at Rock Village Hall had all of that and more.
I had the pleasure of second shooting this wedding for Just James Weddings, and it was such a lovely day to be part of. The weather certainly kept us on our toes, it was hot! but we managed to squeeze in a quick ice cream break together, which was very much appreciated. James was genuinely lovely to work with, and it was great to be part of the day alongside him.
Aaron and Jack were surrounded by their favourite people, with Milo joining in for some of the photographs, classical music setting the scene and the Worcestershire countryside providing a beautiful backdrop. From the ceremony through to golden-hour portraits and a lively evening celebration, there was plenty to capture throughout the day.
Here’s a little look at Aaron and Jack’s wedding at Rock Village Hall.
A Relaxed Start to the Day
I always love those quieter parts of a wedding day before everyone comes together. There’s a lovely mix of anticipation, excitement and little things happening in the background, from the finishing touches to guests beginning to arrive.
Aaron and Jack’s day had a really relaxed feel to it. There was time to take everything in without the day feeling rushed, which meant I could focus on documenting the details and moments as they naturally unfolded.
For me, these are such an important part of telling the story of a wedding. It isn’t just about the big moments, but all the little things that make the day yours.
A Personal Ceremony
With their closest friends and family gathered around them, Aaron and Jack’s ceremony was a lovely way to begin the celebrations.
There’s something special about being surrounded by the people who know you best as you get married. The support, the smiles and the reactions from everyone watching all help make the ceremony what it is, and those are the moments I love capturing without interrupting what’s happening.
The countryside setting at Rock Village Hall made a beautiful backdrop, adding to the relaxed atmosphere of the day. It felt personal and full of warmth, with Aaron and Jack able to enjoy the moment with the people who mattered most to them.
Classical Music, Good Company and Wedding Speeches
After the ceremony, everyone had time to catch up, enjoy a drink and make the most of the countryside surroundings. It was a lovely chance for guests to relax together before everyone gathered for the speeches.
The speeches brought a mix of laughter, heartfelt moments and plenty of reactions from the people who know Aaron and Jack best. I always love capturing these parts of a wedding, from the big laughs to the little glances between guests.
After the speeches, the classical musicians added something a little different to the day, providing a lovely soundtrack as the celebrations continued. It was a really personal touch and a reminder that weddings don't all have to follow the same formula.
As a documentary-style photographer, these transitions are some of my favourite things to capture. There's always something happening just outside the main moment, and I love being able to document it all as naturally as possible.
Golden-Hour Wedding Portraits in the Worcestershire Countryside
One of my favourite parts of Aaron and Jack’s wedding was heading out for their couple portraits as the evening light began to soften.
Rock Village Hall is surrounded by beautiful countryside, so we didn’t need to go far to find somewhere with gorgeous views. With the fields stretching out around us and the golden light settling over the landscape, it was the perfect opportunity to take a short break from the celebrations.
Couple portraits don’t have to mean spending ages away from your guests or feeling like you're posing for a photoshoot. I prefer to keep things relaxed, giving you a little direction when needed and letting you interact naturally with each other. That way, you get some lovely photographs of the two of you together, but the experience itself still feels like part of your wedding day.
The evening light worked beautifully across the countryside, and the portraits felt like a natural extension of everything else happening that day.
A Packed Dance Floor and a Brilliant End to the Day
As the evening got underway, the atmosphere shifted from the relaxed pace of the afternoon to a much livelier celebration.
The dance floor filled up, guests got involved and there was no shortage of energy. After the quieter moments of the ceremony and the time spent enjoying the countryside, it was a brilliant contrast and a fitting way for everyone to celebrate Aaron and Jack.
The evening is always one of my favourite parts of documenting a wedding. People tend to let their guard down, the dance moves become a little less polished, and some of the most entertaining photographs happen when nobody is thinking about the camera.
My approach is to capture it as it happens, so when you look back through your gallery, you can remember not just what the day looked like, but how it felt to be there.
Getting Married at Rock Village Hall, Worcestershire
Rock Village Hall offers a lovely countryside setting for couples looking for a wedding that feels relaxed and personal. The surrounding landscape provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor photographs, while the hall gives everyone a place to come together and continue the celebrations.
For couples who want to make the day their own rather than follow a set formula, a venue like this offers a great backdrop for bringing different elements together, from an outdoor ceremony and drinks reception to an evening party with all your favourite people.
The surrounding Worcestershire countryside is also ideal for couple portraits, particularly if you're hoping for that soft evening light without having to disappear for a long time.
If you're planning your own wedding at Rock Village Hall, it's worth thinking about how you want your photography to fit into the day. A little time set aside for portraits can be lovely, but there's no need to organise every minute. Often, the best photographs come from leaving space for things to happen naturally.
A Wedding That Felt Like Aaron & Jack
Aaron and Jack’s wedding was a brilliant reminder of what makes every wedding unique. From the ceremony and classical music to Milo joining the photographs, golden-hour portraits and a lively evening on the dance floor, their day had so much personality and plenty of moments worth remembering.
A huge thank you to Aaron and Jack for having me there to capture a little part of your wedding story. It was lovely to be part of your day, and I hope you love looking back on these memories for years to come.
And a big thank you to James at Just James Weddings for having me along to second shoot. It was a pleasure working with you, and the ice cream break in the heat was definitely a highlight!
